Dear Leaders, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers,

For me, this festive season is about one thing: kindness.

It’s something we’ve seen a lot of from our Scouts and volunteers in 2020. You’ve spent the year helping others, even when you’ve been having a tough time yourselves. You’ve done everything you can to support young people. And the way you’ve supported each other is truly inspiring.

Our end of year film is about kindness too. It’s about finding special moments to show how much we care, rediscovering the magic in what we do and the incredible reward of seeing young people’s faces light up (even if it’s on Zoom). That’s special – and that’s all thanks to you.

Watch the film below.

I hope you can find some time to rest and recharge over the holiday (and wow, have you earned it).

Happy and peaceful wishes to you all – and here’s to a better 2021!

Parade Day, Sunday 22nd April

Whether you are a Beaver, Cub or Scout, we would love it if you would attend the Annual Parade taking place on Sunday 22nd April.

Please let us know if you can come so we know the numbers. The more of us, the better!

We are looking for parents to help getting the kids to Linlithgow on the day too.

Annual St Georges Day Parade

Annual St George’s Day Parade 2018

On Sunday 22nd April 2018 the Cubs will take part in the annual St Georges Day Parade through Linlithgow. Assembly point for the parade is Low Port Primary School Playground at 2pm and the parade will move off at 2.30 pm to be at St Michaels Church by the Palace ready for the service at 3pm. Please meet us there.

This is a great opportunity to show that Scouting is alive and well in West Lothian, that we have pride in the uniform and our young people, as well as the dedication and commitment of our adult leaders. It is also the day for renewal of promises for all Sections, and knowing we are part of a great organisation.

Join with Scouts all over the world on this special day.

We look forward to seeing you on the day.

Parent and Group Meeting – Thursday 12th October

As the chairperson of this scout group’s executive committee and have just returned from holiday to some disturbing news about the group.  I have only taken over this position at the last AGM  but have been involved for some time.
It seems that our GSL (Group Scout Leader ) has resigned and there is also a shortage of leaders for the other sections but mainly the Cubs due to a number of leaders leaving at the same time.
We are having our next executive meeting in the Scout Hall on Thursday 12th October at 7.30pm and I would like to invite all interested parents along to this meeting with a view to attracting some new blood to the group either as members of the committee or as leaders/helpers.
The idea is to hold our normal business meeting as usual to allow people to get an idea of what is involved with running the group from the non uniform side and hopefully we can persuade some people to help. New ideas and enthusiasm are required to progress the group.
Regarding the uniform side of things, helpers and leaders are required and hopefully we will get some volunteers, note; volunteers, to take the plunge and help out in some way. We can chat about what is involved and answer any queries you may have.
I look forward to hopefully seeing you on Thursday
Thanks
Alan Duncan

Group AGM

The 6th West Lothian Scout Group AGM was held in the hall on Monday 15th May and was attended by the group’s executive committee, leaders, members of the Area Executive and a couple of parents.

Amongst other things, it was agreed there would be a meeting for parents and carers at the beginning of the new session in September.  The reason for this is we have a shortage of helpers to let us run the group – we need your help!

The group is run by like minded parents and we could do with any help you can give, little or lots, often or not.  Please get in touch to see where you can take a turn!
